Notice to Mariners

The weekly publication of permanent chart corrections — the slower, permanent counterpart of a navigational warning.
Notices to Mariners correct charts and nautical publications: a new light, a moved buoy, a newly surveyed depth. They are published on a regular cycle (weekly for the U.S. and British editions), and a navigator applies them by hand or by updating electronic charts. Local Notices to Mariners cover smaller waters in more detail.
Navigational warnings cover what cannot wait for that cycle. A warning about a new wreck may be cancelled once the wreck appears in a Notice to Mariners, which is why some cancellations say the information has been "promulgated" elsewhere.
