1. DERELICT VESSEL ADRIFT VICINITY 12-20S 046-30E. VESSELS IN VICINITY REQUESTED TO KEEP A SHARP LOOKOUT, ASSIST IF POSSIBLE. REPORTS TO MRCC REUNION, INMARSAT-C: 422 799 193, TELEX: 916140, PHONE: 2622 6243 4343, FAX: 2622 6271 1595. 2. CANCEL THIS MSG 29 MAR.
Reading this warning
- Derelict
- An abandoned vessel still afloat and drifting, with no one on board.
- Adrift
- Loose and moving with wind and current — a vessel, container, buoy, log or anything else no longer secured.
- Position (degrees and minutes)
- How warnings write positions: degrees, a hyphen, then minutes, with N/S and E/W — 49-40.8N 003-43.8W.
- Keep a sharp lookout
- A request to every ship in the area to watch for the vessel, people or object described.
