1. SEISMIC SURVERY IN PROGRESS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE BY
   M/V LAURENTIAN TOWING FOUR 5000 METER LONG CABLES IN
   AREA BOUND BY 25-38.8N 054-12.7E, 25-38.0N 054-03.2E,
   25-42.3N 054-02.7E, 25-43.1N 054-12.3E.
   FOUR MILE BERTH REQUESTED.

Reading this warning

Seismic survey
A survey that maps the rock beneath the seabed with sound pulses from air guns, recorded on streamers kilometres long.
Until further notice
The operation or danger has no scheduled end; the warning stays in force until a later message cancels it.
Towed array / streamer
Equipment towed a long way behind a vessel — sonar, a hydrophone cable, a sampling sled — invisible at the surface.
Tow / towing
A vessel towing another vessel, a barge or a structure — slow, hard to manoeuvre, and with a long line between.
Area bound by
Introduces a list of positions that are the corners of an area — the polygon the warning applies to.
Position (degrees and minutes)
