1. THIS MARAD ADVISORY ALERTS MARINERS TO BE VIGILANT IN THE GULF OF ADEN. A VESSEL HIJACKING IN THE GULF OF ADEN WAS REPORTED BY THE NATIONAL MARITIME INTELLIGENCE CENTER, OFFICE OF NAVAL INTELLIGENCE ON 28 OCT. 2. THE NATIONAL MARITIME INTELLIGENCE CENTER (NMIC) ADVISED THAT A CHEMICAL TANKER WAS ATTACKED AND HIJACKED ON 28 OCT AT 0330Z WHILE UNDERWAY IN POSITION 13-05N 050-24E APPROXIMATELY 70NM NORTH OF CALUULA, SOMALIA. 3. ONI FURTHER ADVISES MARINERS TO BE ON HIGH ALERT WHEN TRANSITING THIS AREA, PARTICULARLY THROUGH TO THE END OF NOVEMBER, WHEN MILD WEATHER OF THE FALL TRANSITION PERIOD IS CONDUCIVE TO SMALL BOAT OPERATION. 4.
