WESTERN INDIAN OCEAN. DNC 02. DERELICT VESSEL ADRIFT IN 18-00.00S 055-00.00E. VESSELS IN VICINITY REQUESTED TO KEEP A SHARP LOOKOUT, ASSIST IF POSSIBLE. REPORTS TO MRCC REUNION, INMARSAT-C: 422799193, PHONE: 2622 6243 4343, E-MAIL: REUNION@MRCCFR.EU.
Reading this warning
- DNC (Digital Nautical Chart)
- A reference to one of the regions of NGA's Digital Nautical Chart, used to tell the reader which charts a warning affects.
- Derelict
- An abandoned vessel still afloat and drifting, with no one on board.
- Adrift
- Loose and moving with wind and current — a vessel, container, buoy, log or anything else no longer secured.
