1. M/V ODIN EXPLORER TOWING FOUR MILE LONG CABLE DISABLED AND ADRIFT VICINITY 18-52.4S 114-09.1E AT 180930Z NOV. VESSELS IN VICINITY REQUESTED TO KEEP A SHARP LOOKOUT, ASSIST IF POSSIBLE. REPORTS TO ANY COASTAL RADIO STATION. 2. CANCEL HYDROPAC 2237/06.
Reading this warning
- Towed array / streamer
- Equipment towed a long way behind a vessel — sonar, a hydrophone cable, a sampling sled — invisible at the surface.
- Tow / towing
- A vessel towing another vessel, a barge or a structure — slow, hard to manoeuvre, and with a long line between.
- Adrift
- Loose and moving with wind and current — a vessel, container, buoy, log or anything else no longer secured.
