1. SEISMIC SURVEY IN PROGRESS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE BY M/V VERITAS VOYAGER TOWING FOUR TWO MILE LONG CABLES IN AREA BOUND BY 11-38.3S 125-07.0E, 11-44.4S 124-59.5E, 11-50.2S 125-25.5E, 11-56.3S 125-17.9E. 2.5 MILE BERTH REQUESTED. 2. CANCEL HYDROPAC 418/07. 3. CANCEL HYDROPAC 421/07(75), VESSEL LOCATED SAFE.
Reading this warning
- Seismic survey
- A survey that maps the rock beneath the seabed with sound pulses from air guns, recorded on streamers kilometres long.
- Until further notice
- The operation or danger has no scheduled end; the warning stays in force until a later message cancels it.
- Towed array / streamer
- Equipment towed a long way behind a vessel — sonar, a hydrophone cable, a sampling sled — invisible at the surface.
- Tow / towing
- A vessel towing another vessel, a barge or a structure — slow, hard to manoeuvre, and with a long line between.
- Area bound by
- Introduces a list of positions that are the corners of an area — the polygon the warning applies to.
